Sunsplash is expected to attract over 2,000 people at the party. “We are really excited to introduce our latest experiential event. Sunsplash is something different compared to what we usually do but we want to give our fans a new and exciting event to remember and look forward to and talk about. Sunsplash is about gathering like-minded people to chill out on a weekend, on the beach over music, cocktails and some great company”, Rahul Kukreja, Director of Live Events of The Livescape Group said. Apart from the music a host of other activities are being planned to take place at the inaugural Sunsplash. This includes beach sports such as beach volleyball, and beach soccer. In addition, there will also be a power yoga session on the beach which fans can participate in. The first Sunsplash will feature The Wailers; a reggae and ska band which was initially formed as the supporting band for Bob Marley. Till today, reggae music is defined and inspired by the works of Bob Marley and The Wailers. After the death of Bob Marley in 1981, The Wailers proceeded with their own musical career and have since played with numerous international acts such as Stevie Wonder, Jason Mraz, Colbie Caillat and Sting. The band is made up of Aston "Family Man" Barrett on bass, Aston "Family Man" Barrett Jr. who plays the organ, Dwayne Anglin who is the lead vocals of the band, Cegee Victory who provides backing vocals, Audley Chisholm who plays the lead guitar and provides backing vocals, Melvin Glover on rhythm guitar, Keith Sterling on keyboards and Anthony "Benbow" Creary on drums. The Wailers will be supported by local bands Masia One and The Irietones, Comic Strip and DJ Nez in what will be a night of laidback reggae, ska and dub music. Sunsplash will take place at Tanjong Beach Club, Singapore on May 16.
