THE DEEP END w/ THE HORRORS (DJ Set)

Velvet Underground - Dance and Moonbeats Asia proudly present to you The Deep End, a monthly night featuring only the best beats and tunes to make you swoon. Curating an eclectic mix of regional and international producers and DJs, The Deep End will be the one place to blast into space, one time where the paradigm of life is to feel alive. Our fourth edition of The Deep End features special guest Faris Badwan of THE HORRORS (UK). Don’t miss this rare opportunity to get your freak on and shake things up on the dance floor as frontman of the British rock outfit takes a break from his vocals and steps behind the decks for an exclusive DJ Set in Singapore! To understand The Horrors, you need to understand what it takes to be a free and independent spirit - to do things in your own way and on your own terms at a time when nearly everyone is else is desperate to fit in and all too happy to follow. And that is exactly what they have been doing right from the start. Since their emergence from Southend on Sea back in 2005, The Horrors have grown reputably, commercially and musically from their early humble gothic/garage rock beginnings to one of the most respected British acts at present. They burst onto the scene like the teenage mutant offspring of The New York Dolls and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Their debut album 'Strange House' (2007) drew attention to critics and entered the UK album charts at no. 37, followed by the NME Album of the Year and Mercury-nominated 'Primary Colours' (2009), and the critically acclaimed 'Skying' (2011). Their fourth studio album ‘Luminous’ (2014) topped of the UK Record Store Chart and described by NME as “almost entirely sublime”. So how can you best sum up this most original and inventive of British bands? Well, to paraphrase Margaret Mead, never doubt that a small, thoughtful, passionate and committed group can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
