MOZART Quintet in E-flat major for winds and piano, K. 452
SCHUBERT Piano Quintet in A major, D. 667 'Trout'
One of the most popular chamber masterpieces of all time, Schubert's Trout Quintet is named after his song Die Forelle (The Trout) which provides the theme for the fourth movement. The concert opens with Mozart's Quintet in E-flat major for winds and piano, a work which Mozart was so pleased with that he wrote: "I myself consider it to be the best thing I have written in my life."
