Emo never dies: A playlist – listen

Emo is more than just a phase or a genre. It's what defined the Myspace generation (now in their late 20's and 30's) who found a home with each other on the outside.

If you were one of those kids with closets filled with tight skinny jeans, donning excessive eyeliner and wild anime-like hair then you, my friend, were emo. You played My Chemical Romance and The Used on repeat (and intensively followed the beef between them), stared out the window playing American Football's 'Never Meant,' sang From First To Last's 'Emily' to that girl you shared black gummy bands with, listened to The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus's 'Your Guardian Angel' while playing DOTA at the computer shop,  and cried your hearts out whenever Typecast would hit the stage and play 'Will You Every Learn.' Despite the gloomy front of the lifestyle, there's a beautiful sense of unity that makes being emo your beautiful rescue.

Here are some emo hits that brought together the side-swept fringed, eyelinered kids of yesteryear. What are your favorite emo tracks? Feel free to include them in the playlist below.
