Fans of (G)I-DLE and AKB48 can now connect with their favourite groups on Weverse.

The K-pop quintet and the Japanese girl group have been announced as two of the latest additions to the global fandom and lifestyle platform, with the former joining it on 24 April and the latter set to follow suit on 27 April.

Launched just weeks before the release of their highly anticipated sixth mini-album [I feel], (G)I-DLE's Weverse community will be a platform through which NEVERLANDs can receive updates regarding the group's upcoming comeback as well as news about the 'Nxde' act's other activities.ย

From 12 PM KST on 25 April to 11:59 PM KST on 30 April, fans can participate in a contest organised to welcome (G)I-DLE to Weverse. Five lucky winners will walk away with unreleased autographed polaroids. Contest details can be found here.

As for AKB48, the launch of their Weverse community will come just a day after the release of their 61st single 'Doushite mo Kimi ga Sukida' (ใฉใ†ใ—ใฆใ‚‚ๅ›ใŒๅฅฝใใ )โ€™ on 26 April. The 16 members involved in the new track will be the first from the group to join Weverse. This also makes AKB48 the first J-pop group to join the platform.

โ€œIโ€™m thrilled and excited to interact more closely with our worldwide fans through Weverse," said AKB48's Hitomi Honda.

Additionally, AKB48 have been revealed as the first artist to join Weverse DM. Set to be launched on 2 May, the service will allow fans to connect with their favourites artists through private messages.ย 

As with (G)I-DLE fans, fans of AKB48 can welcome the group to Weverse by participating in a hashtag contest. Those who leave messages on AKB48's Weverse community page with the hashtag #WELCOME_AKB48 from 28 April to 2 May will stand a chance of winning autographs from the J-pop act.
