Iconic Singapore underground club Headquarters to close after 10 years

Headquarters is saying goodbye. The iconic club in Singapore's Boat Quay has announced that 30 May will be its final day, closing out a decade-long run with 10 Years of Headquarters, a send-off featuring 10 hours of music and 10 back-to-back sets across HQ and Upstairs.

Since opening in May 2016, Headquarters has grown into one of Singapore’s key homes for underground dance music. Hidden between the shophouses of Boat Quay, the venue became known for its intimate dancefloor, red-lit room, and no-frills energy — a space built less around spectacle, and more around selectors, dancers, and community.

Originally launched as Headquarters by The Council, the club quickly became a regular meeting point for Singapore’s house and techno crowd. Bandwagon previously described it as a “crimson-tinted venue hidden along Boat Quay,” with graffiti-covered walls, a packed narrow dancefloor, and a raw atmosphere that stood apart from the city’s bigger nightlife spaces.

Over the years, Headquarters has become part of the wider Thugshop ecosystem, alongside spaces such as Tuff Club and MDLR

“For our last month here, we celebrate 10 years of Headquarters with all night longs from our residents throughout the weeks, and a stacked month of music as always,” the club shared in its announcement.

The final closing doors night will bring together residents and friends who have helped shape the space over the years, with Amber H, Benben, DEZ, Emma SS, Joshua Dillon, Meliah, Sho&Tell, TMDDJ, VAIBS, and Vinnie Stew taking over HQ. Upstairs will feature 3MZY, Boon Shao, EJ, Halis, J.Goh, Kevin Sy, LOYBOY, Mr Legume, MSQ, and Shane Naz.

Reflecting on its legacy, Headquarters wrote, “HQ only ever existed because of the people that gathered — regulars, staff, strangers, dancers, DJs, family. There’s no perfect way to end a legacy, and if this place meant something to you, we hope you’ll give it the send-off it deserves”.
