LISTEN: The magical simplicity of sonicbrat's modern classical composition 'MURMURATIONS III'

As we've previously reported, sonicbrat's gorgeous new album MURMURATIONS went on sale via Japanese-Singaporean publishing house Kitchen. Label last week (you can order it here).

And besides being a elegant record made up of introspective acoustic piano compositions - the beautiful artwork and packaging for the album, designed by Ricks Ang, is worth the price of purchase itself.

Nevertheless, the music is also incredible and intimate, described by the acclaimed composer as the flight of an imagined starling soaring through "fabricated landscapes as it inevitably transit in the passage of time".

But if you're still undecided about buying the LP - perhaps a full stream one of the album's finest pieces 'MURMURATIONS III' on SoundCloud will change your mind.

As sonicbrat explains, "This track uses the mute pedal (celeste mechanism) as I transit between the soft muffled tones of hammers hitting the felt and the bright harmonics of the piano strings together with contact microphones on the hammer mechanism of my old piano."

Listen to the track below.

sonicbrat will also be touring Japan this December, and and you can buy tickets for his shows here. The dates are as follows:

Dec 23 @ sonihouse, NARA
