Indonesian jazz and soul heroes MALIQ & D'Essentials made a special appearance at the recent Jakarta stop of Coldplay's Music of the Spheres world tour.

During the final act of the British rock band's show at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium, the 'Paradise' act's frontman, Chris Martin, invited concert-goers to participate in a "magic trick" by silently thinking about where they would like to send their love to for 12 seconds.

After a short burst of fireworks, Martin revealed what the trick was.

"The magic trick is turning magically from Coldplay into MALIQ & D'Essentials. Let's go," he said before handing the stage over to the evening's surprise guests.

As MALIQ & D'Essentials took their positions while holding up hand hearts, they received a rapturous welcome from those in attendance.

The band then proceeded to deliver an impassioned live rendition of their popular 2019 track 'Senja Teduh Pelita' while joined by the voices of the 80,000-strong crowd.

Martin, now seated on the stage, could be spotted supporting the sextet by waving his arms in the air.
