Last month, Manila Community Radio made history with its first-ever budots showcase on Boiler Room.

Featuring emerging DJs and producers from across the country, the recording session was held last 29 April 2023 with Showtime Official Club, Libya Montes, Hideki Ito b2b T33G33, obese.dogma777 b2b Pikunin, Teya Logos, and budots pioneer DJ Love.

MCR programming lead and co-founder Jorge Wieneke V (a.k.a. obese.dogma777) shares: “It’s fascinating how budots kind of captures and represents us as a people, with its resilience, playfulness, and campiness. Like other grassroots sounds across the globe – like Detroit techno, Chicago house, Indonesia’s dangdut and more – it feels like something the Philippines can truly call its own.”

Starting 25 May, 9 PM PHT, recordings of all 6 sets will be available for viewing and listening on Boiler Room. Watch it here.
