PREMIERE: SuperCyberTown conjures a vivid virtual wonderland for Kiat & Diphasic's 'Dubsmash'

As we've already enthused, Kiat's outstanding Dubsmash EP (his third album within five months mind you) was easily one of the best local releases of 2016

Afflicted by a nasty leg injury, Singapore's drum & bass godfather was kept homebound for the better part of last year, leading to concentrated spurt of music-making productivity. Naturally, all three of Kiat's drops were excellent, but his final one on Phyla was something extra special.

Even in a record full of winners, the EP's title track, a collaboration with Belfast-based producer Diphasic, was exceptionally wicked. A dub-influenced roller, the track was a tense and rumbling beast, leashed by intricate percussion.

And now 'Dubsmash' also comes with a fresh music video - crafted by none other than Race Krehel aka SuperCyberTown

BANDWAGON TV

As the visual half of O$P$, Race is probably best known as the sought-after mad scientist mastermind behind the wonderfully immersive animated music videos for Yllis' '梦' and the Geylang crunk duo's own 'Ghost Vision'.

This time, he's conjured up a whole new virtual wonderland, occupied by strange shape-shifting dimensions that create levitating golden idols and synthetic forests on a whim. It's quite a trip.
