Singaporean beatboxer Dharni pays tribute to The Fifth Element with singer Edyta Krzemień – watch

Local beatboxing hero Dharni has released a new collaboration with Polish singer Edyta Krzemień: a rendition of the "Diva Dance" opera from cult film The Fifth Element.

The Singapore-raised, Warsaw-based beatboxing champion took to Facebook on Monday, 7 May to share a new video featuring the operatic vocals of Krzemień, who also collaborated with Dharni in September last year.

In the cover of "Diva Dance", Dharni demonstrates the versatility of beatboxing, proving that you can in fact beatbox to the opera. The video begins with Krzemień's high-pitched vocals as Dharni takes a step back, providing background sounds that suit the mood completely, before jumping in to show off his beatboxing prowess. The two trade off each other, with each performer getting their own time to shine.

This is a video you should watch to the end: if the beatboxing isn't enough to compel you to watch it all, then the incredible makeup-and-costume transformation halfway should.
