SoundCloud has taken another step to make music discovery easier for its users.

Audio sharing platform and streamer SoundCloud has announced its acquisition of Singapore-based AI music curation company Musiio. The new partnership will help to enhance the music discovery experience on the platform with its speedy search capabilities, audio tagging, and playlist curations.

“SoundCloud is a unique business. Its singular market position as both a music-streaming service for fans and an artists services business is unlike any other streamer. Meaning, it is the only platform that truly holds a direct relationship with artists and listeners,” SoundCloud president Eliah Seton shared with TechCrunch.

"Our AI can tag or search vast amounts of music very quickly," Musiio CEO and Co-Founder Hazel Savage told Bandwagon in an interview. "We tag about 2,000,000 tracks a day globally, so it means we can generate information about music that companies didn't have before meeting us—the genre, BPM, key, vocal, and recording quality of every track. Musiio can do that. And we don't even need to have seen the track before."

Further details about the acquisition and the new features on SoundCloud will be announced soon.
