TRI.BE talk goals, supporting each other, and working on their latest mini-album 'VENI VIDI VICI'

From touring stadiums around the world to becoming a mainstay in Korea’s vast K-pop scene, TRI.BE may have big dreams but their ambition and drive prove much larger than that.

Composed of Songsun, Kelly, Jinha, Hyunbin, Jia, Soeun, and Mire, TRI.BE are one of K-pop’s newest girl groups. Formed under Universal Music Korea, the 'DOOM DOOM TA' act is the first-ever group put together by a major international label in partnership with esteemed producer Shinasadong Tiger

Being the first of anything carries a degree of pressure and expectation, and in just 8 months as a group so far, TRI.BE have exceeded every single one.

Last February, TRI.BE released their explosive debut single album 'DOOM DOOM TA' which garnered support from all corners of the world. Their second track 'Loca' also followed suit, being well recognised for its catchy beats and pleasantly aggressive chant.

Most recently TRI.BE unveiled their first mini-album VENI VIDI VICI that exudes power, confidence, and energy - everything that the seven-membered group is all about.

"‘VENI VIDI VICI’ is a Latin phrase for ‘I came, I saw, and I conquered’. The basic idea behind it is that we’re trying to conquer new universes with our diverse music through this mini-album, it has very confident determination," said Songsun at a press conference.

The mini-album features seven tracks, including their lead single 'WOULD YOU RUN' and two previously released singles, 'DOOM DOOM TA' and 'RUB-A-DUM'.

Speaking on their title track, Hyunbin shared how 'WOULD YOU RUN' reflects TRI.BE's relentless drive and endless aspirations for the future.

"WOULD YOU RUN is a moombahton song with a very unique brass riff and catchy melody. It explains our determination and asks our fans if they want to run with us to a universe," she says.

VENI VIDI VICI also includes tracks like 'LOBO' which talks about the group's bond and unity, '-18' performed by Soeun, Hyunbin, and Mire about what look forward to in adulthood, the ever-vibrant 'GOT YOUR BACK' performed by Jia, Jinha, Kelly and Songsun, and of course their fan dedicated song 'TRUE'

The mini-album comes as TRI.BE's most ambitious comeback yet, especially having just released another single album CONMIGO last May. Having had a short period of time to prepare and work on VENI VIDI VICI, the members shared how they often had feelings of doubts and worry during their creative process.

"We have five new tracks in this album and we were initially worried whether we could work on and prepare for these tracks in a short amount of time, especially since our previous comeback, we only had two tracks," said Jinha.

But never the type to stray away from a challenge, TRI.BE pushed forward, finding strength within one another and their fans and channelling their fears and anxieties into their music.

"Because we were worried and felt some pressure, we were actually able to push ourselves more and practice and spend more time memorising the music and the choreography and preparing for the comeback," said Jinha.

"I was able to learn how precious my members are. We had a short period of time to prepare for this comeback and work on five new tracks, and it’d be a lie if I said I wasn’t worried or nervous but any time I felt down, it was all the members that kept me together. I was really able to feel the bond that we have," said Soeun.

In their short but fruitful journey as TRI.BE, the girls have learned a lot about what it means to be idols, bandmates, and artists. Whether its onstage or in the recording booth, the 'Loro' hitmakers are taking it one step at a time, with each other and their fans right by their side.

"When I look back at our debut stage, I think we were all just very flustered. We didn’t know what was happening or what to do but now I feel like we’re more comfortable on stage and we have an idea of what’s going to happen," said Kelly.

With so much more in store for them, there's a lot that TRI.BE hopes to do, whether that's winning an award or collaborating with their favourite acts like Ariana Grande, Post Malone, and BLACKPINK; but at the centre of it all are their fans.

Owing so much of their success so far to TRUE (TRI.BE fans), the group hope to thank their ever-supportive community through good music and eventually, concerts.

"We’ve had very little time to prepare for each one but we kept pushing for a comeback. We really enjoy singing and performing on stage and we don’t want to keep our fans waiting, we know that's why TRUE likes us and we want to live up to their expectations and keep giving them content to enjoy," said Jinha.

"One of our goals is just to have a concert and get to perform and sing our songs in front of our fans, so we’re always talking about how we want to go on a world tour one day and go out of Korea to meet our international fans," said Mire.

"Our goals as artists and as TRI.BE is that we continue to be a group that is always there for their fans and that our music can comfort them when they listen to it," said Jia.
