Beyond a live shopping feature which allows users to buy items and products while watching a livestream video, YouTube will also be adding a shopping tab that allows users in the US, Brazil, and India can view shoppable content from around the world. The feature will also be rolled out to more countries within the coming year.
There will also be a shopping tab available on creators' channels that they customise and arrange so that their viewers have easy access to the products that they are promoting and selling. All these new features and services come in partnership with Shopify.
"We believe creators are the next generation of merchants, and YouTube has been a long-time leader in powering this new cohort of entrepreneurs. We’re excited to partner with YouTube, and help scale the creator economy into its next phase of growth," said Kaz Nejatian, VP of Product at Shopify.
