Asian popstars take over Milan and Paris Fashion Week – BTS' j-hope, Jimin, and SUGA, Snow Man's Raul, BLACKPINK's Jisoo, Jackson Wang, WayV's Ten, EXO's KAI, and more

Asian stars have descended upon Fashion Week.

Making headlines in Paris and Milan are some of the biggest Asian popstars – from Snow Man's Raul walking the runway for Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto to BTS' Jimin attending his first fashion week show as a global ambassador for Dior. 

Here are some of the Asian artists we spotted at Fashion Week.


BTS' Jimin

Dior's newest global ambassador made an impressive debut at his first Paris Fashion Week appearance. Dubbed as "the main event," BTS' Jimin stole the show as he was welcomed by thousands of fans before headed into Dior's Fall/Winter 2023 Menswear show.

BANDWAGON TV

The 'Promise' singer was in good company as he sat front row with fellow BTS member, j-hope and iconic supermodel Naomi Campbell. On Instagram, the new face of Dior also posted snaps with Dior Artistic Director Kim Jones, David and Cruz Beckham, and Robert Pattinson.

In a message on Weverse, Jimin shared how Paris Fashion Week was "a new and meaningful experience" and how he felt "less nervous" because j-hope was with him. "I was so happy to see ARMY welcoming me there," Jimin adeed.


ENHYPEN

ENHYPEN made their fashion week debut in Milan for the Prada FW 2023 Menswear Collection show. All seven members were in attendance, making history as the first K-pop boy act to attend fashion week as a group. 

The show was simultaneously livestreamed on ENHYPEN’s official social media channels, with the livestream getting over 130,000 viewers worldwide. 

ENHYPEN just wrapped up their first solo Japan dome concerts over the weekend, with the ENHYPEN WORLD TOUR <MANIFESTO>  continuing later this month, with shows in Bangkok and Manila.

Even before landing in Paris, WayV's Ten stunned in his Saint Laurent fit as he left Incheon Airport for Paris Fashion Week. The 'Paint Me Naked' act attended Saint Laurent's F/W Men's 2023 show, marking the first time a Thai artist has been invited to the event.

Fresh off their much-awaited comeback, Phantom, WayV are in Bangkok this week to celebrate Lunar New Year. As a solo act, Ten recently dropped his SM STATION single for NCT LAB, 'Birthday'.


Snow Man's Raul

Snow Man's Raul took his fashion week experience one step further with a Paris Fashion Week runway debut at Yohji Yamamoto's POUR HOMME Spring/Summer 2023 show. Also spotted in the audience was Snow Man bandmate, Meguro Ren, who was in Paris to show support for his dear friend.

This comes after launching his personal Instagram account a few days ago, where the Japanese singer-actor has been updating his fans around the world with his Paris adventure. Since his first post on Instagram, the J-pop star has been taking us to see the sights – from the Eiffel Tower to the Opera. "I had so much fun just walking around the city," Raul said. In a statement, Raul talked about his PFW experience, "Last time I was honored to participate in Yohji Yamamoto's Paris Fashion Week show virtually from Tokyo, but being able to walk the runway in Paris itself was even more nerve-rackingly fun than I could have imagined. The clothes I wore were so unique and inspiring, so I did my best in the hopes that their creativity would be transmitted as much as possible to everyone watching."

Aside from his runway debut, Raul also took the time to walk the red carpet and sit front row at Givenchy, AMI Alexandre Mattiussi, and Paul Smith.


BTS' j-hope

BTS' resident fashion king, j-hope, has finally made his Paris Fashion Week debut with Louis Vuitton's Men's F/W 2023 show. Sitting front row with Louis Vuitton creative director Nicholas Ghesquiere, the global superstar checked out the latest menswear collection helmed by KidSuper founder and winner of LVMH Prize for Young Designers, Colm Dillane. The fashion show featured vibrant colours and patterns, as well as a performance by Spanish pop star, Rosalia, whom j-hope was spotted hanging out with after the show.

The multihyphenate has been making the most out of his Paris visit, stopping by the Dior fashion show to sit front row with fellow BTS member and newly appointed Dior ambassador, Jimin. J-hope also graced Hermès' Fall Winter 2023/2024 Menswear show, sitting front row with Hermès Charlotte David. 

J-hope is set to release a new documentary titled j-hope IN THE BOX on Disney+ this 17 February.


Jackson Wang

Hong Kong-born artist Jackson Wang took a break from his busy MAGIC MAN schedule to attend Louis Vuitton's Men's Fall/Winter 2023 show. In a video clip shared by Louis Vuittion, the 'Champagne Cool' act talked about his favourite things about Paris and why he liked the legendary French fashion house: "I can't find anyone that don't like Louis Vuitton."

Days after the show, the multihyphenate was officially announced as a new House Ambassador. 

Jackson is set to take his MAGIC MAN tour to North America this April and May, alongside his return to Coachella this April.


Seventeen's Jeonghan and Hoshi

SEVENTEEN members Jeonghan and Hoshi both made their Paris Fashion Week debuts this week. Jeonghan attended Saint Laurent's F/W Men's 2023 show, while Hoshi graced Ami's Fall/Winter 2023 collection.

While the pair came to the city separately for their respective activities, the two found time to hang out sharing photos of them posing in front of the Eiffel Tower and sharing a meal. 

SEVENTEEN are set to return In The Soop this month, with their sub-unit BSS making its official debut with their first single album, SECOND WIND. The 'HOT' act is also reportedly working on a full group comeback soon. 


Holland

At Maison Margiela’s “Co-Ed” 2023 collection, Holland, who identifies as one of the K-Pop world’s first openly gay idols, appeared beside fellow rising luminaries such as musician Moses Sumney and RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13 winner Symone. Having long been associated with the storied house of Martin Margiela, Holland fitted right in the cast of characters of the punk-esque collection, what creative director John Galliano called “revolutionaries with a conscience.”

The ‘I’m Not Afraid’ singer-songwriter also served looks at the latest Paris outing of Junichi Abe’s cutting edge label Kolor, known for its distinct, out-of-the-box construction and mix of materials. Holland even shared photos with “hot guys (chili emoji)” he spotted at the show, such as Emily in Paris star Paul Forman, as well as rappers 24kGoldn and Nafe Smallz.


Mile Phakphum

Mile Phakphum was welcomed by a throng of fans as he made his way to Dior's Fall/Winter 2023 Menswear show. In numerous Instagram posts, he shared how "super happy" he was to witness the show, and "super happy to see" all his fans in Paris.

Best known for his role in KinnPorsche, the success of the series has brought the actor-singer, alongside his co-stars, on the KinnPorsche World Tour. The next shows are happening in Hong Kong this January, and Bangkok in February.

LØREN

THEBLACKLABEL artist LØREN is no stranger to Paris Fashion Week, having attended the much-awaited affair last year. The 'All My Friends Are Turning Blue' act returned to the city for Saint Laurent's Men's Winter 23 collection by Anthony Vaccarello.

A producer and singer-songwriter, LØREN recently performed in Singapore alongside hyper-realistic virtual influencer, RAE.  


BM

Rocking a yellow vest emblazoned with patches – with guns out – KARD’s BM stunned when streetwear legend and Kenzo artistic director Nigo (also of BAPE and Human Made fame) showcased his third offering for the late Kenzo Takada’s maison.

Big Matthew has practically been everywhere in Paris – a busy fashion week for him indeed – and he won’t be done until the 25th. He dropped by the Loewe show and also showed up in a glorious leather blouson as Japanese fashion vanguard Chitose Abe (née Sakai; Junichi Abe of Kolor’s wife), unveiled her 2023 fall collection for Sacai in the French capital.

Even with his packed schedule, BM squeezed in some moments for his adoring fans. He tweeted, “Meeting you guys makes me very grateful to be alive. You all are my biggest blessings.”


JJ Lin

Mandopop superstar JJ Lin was also in attendance at Louis Vuitton's Men's Fall/Winter 2023 show. In an Instagram post, the Singaporean-born pop icon shares how "Music plays such an integral part of fashion and culture." "Today we witnessed yet another show that uses a live performance to connect the storytelling, " JJ Lin added before giving a shout out to Rosalia's performance and the new Louis Vuitton collection.

JJ Lin is currently celebrating his 20th year in the music industry, having recently performed in Singapore, Taoyuan City, and Kuala Lumpur in late 2022. He is set to take his JJ20 World Tour into 2023, with concert dates in North America, Europe, and Australia.


Win Metawin

Rising to superstardom after starring in 2gether: The Series with Bright Vachiwarit, the actor-singer has amassed millions of fans across the globe. He's set to star in Thai horror series Enigma later this year, and recently released a solo single entitled 'One More Chance'.


ROWOON

Rowoon of SF9 was a magnetic presence at the FW23 menswear presentation for Loewe. When the idol and actor stepped out, he was greeted by throngs of Fantasy, SF9’s fans. As Jonathan Anderson’s (also of eponymous label JW Anderson) newest collection called for a stripped back “emphasis on materiality”, the SF9 main vocalist and visual charmed in a simple but luxurious green sweater.

He joined the likes of Troye Sivan, Timothy Chalamet, and King Gnu’s Seki Yu (勢喜遊) as guests at the Spanish fashion house’s show.


Taeyang

Kicking off 2023 to a fresh start with a gargantuan collaboration featuring BTS' Jimin, Taeyang is back in Paris for another Fashion Week stint. While the K-pop pioneer is no stranger to shows, this marks the Big Bang member's first front row appearance as Givenchy's new global ambassador.

'VIBE' is the first taste of Taeyang's new music, as he's set to release his highly-anticipated album under THEBLACKLABEL later this year.


Takanori Iwata

Takanori Iwata was in Paris to witness the new Louis Vuitton collection at the Cour Carrée du Louvre. In a video clip, the House Ambassador revealed how he was impressed by the quality of the show, as well as "solid the teamwork was from the Louis Vuitton team. "I found the show very emotional," the J-pop star shared.

The singer, actor, and dancer recently wrapped up his Live Tour in support of his first solo studio album, The Chocolate Box last year. The multi-faceted artist is also set to make a comeback as a member of Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS (JSB3) with 'STARS' at the end of January and an upcoming live tour kicking off this February.


KING GNU'S SEKI YU

King Gnu’s drummer Seki Yu was clearly amazed at his first ever fashion show, by way of Loewe, and later wrote on Instagram, “人生初ショー体験してしまいました。感動しまました。LOEWEってすっげ。(I experienced a show for the first time in my life. I was moved. LOEWE is incredible.” He came together with visual artist Cota Mori. The pair were even snapped sporting apparel from the soon-to-be-released collaborative capsule collection with Studio Ghibli – the last one – this time featuring Howl’s Moving Castle.

He definitely had a blast, as he tweeted, “パリ、毎日爆笑しててもう死にそうなので帰ります。(Paris, I’m gonna die from bursting out in laughter every day, so I’m going home.)” In front of the Eiffel Tower and the Loewe x Studio Ghibli installation there, he even cheekily mimicked his fellow Japanese artist Raul’s pose on Instagram, quipping with a hashtag: “昼はせきゆ、夜はラウール (Seki Yu by day, Raul by night).”

EXO's Kai

KAI returned to the front row as he attended Gucci's Fall Winter 2023 fashion show in Milan. The Global Brand Ambassador has a storied history with the fashion house, starting with the singer working with Gucci since 2019, and later on, designing a capsule collection for the brand in 2021.

KAI dropped remix versions of his hit single 'Peaches' last year, and recently performed at SMTOWN LIVE 2023: SMCU PALACE alongside the SM Entertainment roster for their New Years' special. The singer is scheduled to perform a series of shows in Japan this January as part of his first solo Japan tour.


Blackpink's Jisoo

Dior Global Ambassador Jisoo took a break from touring to witness Dior Couture's Spring Summer 2023 collection. The classic beauty turned heads in an all-white ensemble from the new couture collection.

The face of both fashion and beauty, the singer-actress has been a global ambassador for Dior since 2021, and even inspired Maria Grazia Chiuri's Fall Winter 2021 collection.

BLACKPINK are set to continue their BORN PINK tour in Abu Dhabi, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Kaohsiung, Bulacan, and Singapore. The group is also returning to Coachella this April for a historic headlining set.


BTS' SUGA

SUGA made his Paris Fashion Week debut as Valentino's newest global ambassador. The award-winning rapper, songwriter, and producer sat front row at Valentino Le Club Couture 23 alongside popstar Sam Smith and 'Heartbeat' collaborator Charli XCX.
