Benjamin Kheng releases music video for '90s inspired single 'Baby Mama' – watch

Benjamin Kheng has returned with a brand-new single titled 'Baby Mama'.

Released on 5 November, the song is a mix of R&B and EDM inspired by the music from the late '90s and early '00s. A music video starring the Singaporean artist dancing with a partner was also unveiled.

Describing the song, Kheng shared: "'Baby Mama' is about the weird but wonderful sensation of knowing someone isn’t good for you and going for them anyway." The singer's tumultuous emotions are evident in the sad yet upbeat track – a result of Kheng's wistful vocals against anthemic electronic beats.

The song was a collaboration with Australian producer James Angus, who worked with Kheng on his 2020 debut EP A Sea That Never Stops. While the song was completed in 2019, it did not make the EP.

"It bothered us enough that we couldn't quite figure it out, so we finally gave it a proper shot this year after a decision to make it hit a little harder with bigger electric guitars and distorted bass," explained Kheng.

"The song was a pandemic partnership with lots of demos sent across between James and I. [I'm] glad it got birthed in these strange times."

Kheng's last solo release was a collaboration with Taiwanese rapper J.Sheon titled 'Fresh Feelings'. He also released a number of songs this year as part of The Ann & Ben Show – his comedy music series with Singaporean actress and singer Annette Lee
