BTS are the Honourary Ambassadors for World Expo 2030 Busan.
To help the South Korean city's bid to host the grand world expo event, the global pop icons have been appointed as their Honourary Ambassadors. The group's official Appointment Ceremony was livestreamed , today via YouTube.
As ambassadors, BTS will help promote the event and help the city's bid which reportedly includes a concert happening this October.

In the appointment ceremony, BTS received the plaques for their official appointment as ambassadors for World Expo 2030 Busan. Attended by Prime Minister Han Duk-soo and Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Chairman Chey Tae-won, who are the co-chairs of the Bid Committee, as well as Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City Park Heong-joon, HYBE CEO Jiwon Park, and more, the event was held at HYBE headquarters in Yongsan, Seoul.
BTS' leader RM shared, “We are honoured to be appointed as ambassadors for World Expo 2030 Busan. BTS will do our best to support in bringing the World Expo 2030 to Busan. Starting with the Global Busan Concert in October, we will carry out various ambassador activities.” He added, “We will also make extra efforts to not only support the nation’s bid, but also promote the beautiful nature and culture of the Republic of Korea worldwide.”
Busan, alongside Italy's Rome, Ukraine's Odesa, and Saudi Arabia's Riyadh are in the running to host the 2030 World Expo, a global festival that brings countries together under industrial, technological, and cultural development. The most recent World Expo was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates while the next event will be happening in Osaka, Japan in 2025.
