BTS announce plans to hold global concert in bid for the 2030 World Expo in Busan

BTS are planning a global concert.

According to a press release, the award-winning pop group have plans to hold a global concert in support of the city's bid to host the next edition of the World Expo in seven years. BTS will also be the event's ambassadors and give full their support for the Expo, as part of HYBE's memorandum of understanding with the Busan City Hall. 

"I am well aware of how important it is to host the 2030 Busan Expo, which is an important national project. With the hosting of the Expo as an opportunity, we will work together to develop local pop culture in Busan and K-Culture," said HYBE Board Chairman Bang Si-hyuk

Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City Park Heong-joon said, “I’d like to express my sincere appreciation to the members of BTS and HYBE for accepting to be the ambassadors of the World Expo 2030 in Busan. The group’s support as ambassadors will be incredibly helpful in stepping up our efforts to bring the World Expo to Busan.”

The World Expo is a large global exhibition held every five years to showcase a country's achievements and provide an immersive journey surrounding that year's universal theme. The most recent World Expo was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates while the next event will be held in Osaka, Japan in 2025.

BTS most recently announced their "Chapter 2", a time to focus on their solo pursuits. This came after the group released their anthology album, Proof which featured unreleased demos of their previous tracks and three new songs including their single 'Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)'.
