Previously, d4vd had been identified as one of the prime suspects in the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was found decomposing in the back of an impounded Tesla that was registered under d4vd's name on 8 September 2025.
Since a grand jury began analysing the evidence and breaking down the links that d4vd had to the case back in December, the 21-year-old singer has now been officially arrested, being held without bail. His case is set to be presented to the district attorney's office on 20 April, awaiting the slew of charges that d4vd will be facing.
His involvement in the case first came to light when a foul smell was noticed coming from an impounded Tesla that was registered under his name. Although the victim was unidentified during initial investigation, on 17 September, law enforcement identified her to be Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who would have been 15 years old at the time of the murder. Celeste had also been registered as a missing person since 4 May 2024.
Although the investigation of d4vd's involvement with the case was kept quiet and not sensationalised, the news of the official confirmation of his involvement in the case came to light after his family publicly rejected requests to subpoena testimonies from them. However, to preserve the integrity of the case, a judge had also ordered records to be sealed.
While no further information, such as the singer's relation to the victim and cause of death, has been shared, the coming weeks are crucial for the development of the case and the trial proceedings that will bring justice to the life of the victim and her family.
