The third annual Wish Music Awards were held at the Araneta Coliseum last night (01/15). 

With 18 categories and over 70 nominees, Wish FM 107.5 gave recognition to the best local music and Wishclusive performances released in 2017. The artists who won major awards received a 25,000 PHP cash prize, while their chosen beneficiaries were awarded 100,000 PHP.

The winners were determined by the combined votes of Wishers (15%), and a select panel of judges (85%) - this year's judges included Philippine music icons Kuh Ledesma, Noel Cabangon, Gino Padilla, Jett Pangan, Francis Reyes, and Arnel Pineda, National Youth Commission chairperson Aiza Seguerra, Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors President Isah Red, and Wish FM DJs, DJ Ray Holiday, DJ Alice, DJ Robin, DJ Faye, DJ Laura, and DJ Adam.

The list of winners was a mix of mainstream pop stars like Morissette, TJ Monterde, Jay-R, and KZ Tandingan and independent music acts such as Ben&Ben, Extrapolation, and IV of Spades.

Math rock trio Tom's Story, who were up against the likes of more established acts like Pedicab, Mayonnaise, Sponge Cola, and Barbie Almalbis, took home the award for Wishclusive Rock/Alternative Performance of the Year for their performance of 'Anchors'. Teach for the Philippines, an organization dedicated to the improvement of the quality of teaching in the Philippines, is the band's chosen beneficiary.

Funk and jazz group Extrapolation were awarded Wish Promising Artist of the Year and their chosen charity, Save the Children will receive the 100,000 PHP cash prize.

Indie folk-pop nine-piece Ben&Ben won two awards - Wish Contemporary Folk Song of the Year for their single, 'Leaves' and Wish Group/Duo of the Year. Bukas Palad Foundation will receive 200,000 PHP in total for being the band's chosen beneficiary.

IV of Spades, who were recently crowned winners in the Dreams Come True with AirAsia campaign, took home the award for Wish Rock/Alternative Song of the Year for their song 'Hey Barbara'.  The band also won Wishclusive Urban Performance of the Year for 'Ilaw Sa Daan'. Cancervants PH is the band's chosen beneficiary.

Morissette was crowned Artist of the Year. The pop singer also won Wishclusive Pop Performance of the Year and Wish Reactors' Choice for her performance of 'Rise Up'. Her chosen beneficiaries Sto. Niño Home For The Aged Inc. and Meritxell Children’s World Foundation Inc. will receive a total of 200,000 PHP.

Dua Lipa, who just got nominated for a total of five BRIT Awards, won the award for Wishclusive Performance of the Year by an International Artist for her performance of 'Blow Your Mind'.
