PhilPop takes on the world stage with #MusicBreakingBorders

PhilPop is going global.

In an effort to empower rising talent from the Philippines, PhilPop will be showcasing the diverse appeal of music created by Filipinos from Metro Manila, North and South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao with its upcoming Songwriting Festival.

PhilPop is currently turning to digital initiatives and strategies to adapt to the new normal the music community is facing in light of the coronavirus pandemic. PhilPop 2020 President Ricky Vargas says, "We remain as a stabilizing force in discovering world-class songwriters and composers, and making sure that their work stands out in terms of innovation, cultural pride, and global appeal."

National Artist and PhilPop Music Fest Foundation Board Member and Bootcamp Master Ryan Cayabyab adds that these diverse Filipino creators open door for Philippine popular music to explore through their platform. "We in Philpop has adopted the theme, Music Breaking Borders to achieve what we have set out. The other facet of Philpop’s #MusicBreakingBorders is, you probably have guessed – the task of Philippine pop music to break barriers in the international scene."
