Filipno singer Ivy Grace Paredes is the next big name that's set to join the star-studded musical lineup for the 2016 Asian Television Awards.
Best known for her jaw-dropping performances on The X Factor UK earlier this year, Paredes frequently wowed the audience and celebrity judges such as Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and mentor Sharon Osborne.
However despite consistently earning glowing reviews, the talented Dubai expatriate was forced out of the reality singing competition prematurely due to visa issues, which prevented her from participating in the US leg of the show.
Nevertheless, Paredes has still launched herself into a successful musical career thanks to her warm personality and unbridled vocal talent.
As Cindy Ng, managing director of the Asian Television Awards, enthuses, "Fresh off X Factor UK, the Asian Television Awards is the platform to expose Ivy Grace Paredes to the greater Asian audience and show them the potential that the judges Nicole Scherzinger and Simon Cowell saw in her."
Ivy Grace Pareded will now join Singaporean sensation JJ Lin, Indonesian luminary Rossa, and the UK's reigning contemporary alt-pop queen Charli XCX as one of the featured musical performers on the forthcoming 2016 edition of the Asian Television Awards to be held on 2nd December at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre.
In addition, the nominees for the awards gala have just recently been announced. While Korean drama Descendants of the Sun and Marriage Contract lead the charge, there is also a strong contingent of Southeast Asian talent in contention in various categories.
Of particular note, Farhana M Noor, star of Suria's blockbuster period drama, Bunga Tanjong is up the coveted Best Actress prize. Meanwhile Christopher Lee and A Panneeirchelvam have been nominated their stellar work on Channel 8's Crescendo and Vasantham’s Thalaimurai respectively.
