Bandwagon Mix #90: Pamcy (PH)

Bandwagon Mix #90: Pamcy (PH)

Every month, Bandwagon invites a guest to do a mix for us. Rather than a standard interview where the artist explains their influences, we figured it’d be more potent if you simply listened to the music.

We provide the context, they provide the sounds.

After a brief hiatus, Bandwagon Mix returns this month with Filipina producer, Pamcy.

There's a special way that the Manila-based electronic producer and DJ draws pastel colors and turns them into sound. She pulls inspiration from sweet childhood things like food and music toys, triggering beats of nostalgia with every tap.

The Bandwagon Conversations alum was based in Singapore for about a year and has worked with the likes of Intriguant and ATTAGIRL!. "Singapore is a relatively small city and everyone seems to know each other. I like how there's a little bit of everything in different parts of the city. Although there are fewer venues for music in Singapore than in Manila, Singaporean artists thrive in spite of this and hold music events that are worth looking forward to," Pamcy shares. "I really enjoyed playing for Intriguant's UPLOADING, an ongoing event series that features forward-thinking electronic music producers and DJs. I'm also glad that I got to meet some of the girls from all-female collective ATTAGIRL! when I played in one of their monthly open jams."

Currently working on the followup to 2019's BInibini with Manila-based cassette label Genjitsu Stargazing Society, Pamcy has been back home splitting her time between DJing and music production. "I'm looking forward to working on my next project, producing for other artists, and more than anything, looking forward to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel," Pamcy adds about her newfound time at home during the lockdown. "I've been trying to make good of this time to create and more importantly, to help those who are at risk during this crisis. I follow helpfromhome.ph to stay informed on initiatives that need funding and assistance."
