BLACKPINK, Joey Yung, and Eason Chan top JOOX Hong Kong's music annual review for 2021

Time for another end-of-the-year music wrap-up!

On Thursday (16/12), JOOX Hong Kong revealed its top songs, artists, and streams for 2021 on its newest JOOX ROOMS feature, which facilitates interaction between fans and artists. 

It comes as no surprise that renowned K-pop girl group BLACKPINK comes first on the Top 3 Most Streamed Bands, followed by local Cantonese groups Dear Jane and MIRROR. 

Joey Yung heads the Top 3 Most Streamed Female Artists, with G.E.M right after, and Janice Vidal completing the list. 

For Top 3 Most Streamed Male Artists, Eason Chan starts off the list, followed by MIRROR's Keung To, and ending with Hins Cheung. 

Hong Kong boy Cantopop band MIRROR's popularity shines through on the platform, as their songs reached more than 50 million plays, attaining six places in the Top 10 Most Streamed Songs, with a solo song by member Edan Lui 'E先生 連環不幸事件' earning the top spot, followed by Hins Cheung's '俏郎君'. The third spot goes to a MIRROR member yet again, with Keung To's '蒙著嘴說愛你'.   

The popularity of the JOOX music app continues to rise as they recorded a 10% increase in users from the previous year. The app has also released a new feature, JOOX ROOMS, which attracted more than 330,000 views, peaking at more than 6,400 peak concurrent users in MIRROR's Edan x Jer ROOMS, and Keung To's Fandom Room recorded over a thousand fans cheering for him for 8 consecutive days. 

K-pop has continued to dominate Hong Kong in 2021, as seen on JOOX. As the exclusive broadcast channel of popular South Korean music shows such as the 2021 Melon Music Awards (MMA) and the Mnet ASIAN MUSIC AWARDS (MAMA), the platform has continued to provide more opportunities for fans to interact with their idols. JOOX's K-Pop music live program IDOL STATION also returned this year due to the overwhelming success of its launch last year, with many K-pop idols utilizing the platform, including VERIVERY, NU'EST, ONF, and SEVENTEEN's JUN and THE 8. 

JOOX was also the exclusive platform streaming Ed Sheeran's online concert for his album titled '=', all over Asia. JOOX intends to bring users limitless music and entertainment experiences in 2022, expanding its current music library of more than 40 million songs.
