Coldplay have announced a sustainability-themed world tour titled the Music Of The Spheres World Tour.

The tour is slated to begin in Costa Rica on 22 March 2022, with more shows across the United States, South America, and Europe. American singer H.E.R. and English indie act London GrammarΒ have been announced as the supporting acts for the tour.

In a separate tweet, the band also elaborated on the sustainability factor of the upcoming tour.Β

"We're very conscious that the planet is facing a climate crisis," they wrote. "So we've spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible, and, just as importantly, to harness the tour's potential to push things forward."

This is the 'Fix You' act's first tour since 2017's A Head Full Of Dreams Tour. In 2019, the band pledged to stop put their tours on pause until they were able to find a way to make touring more environmentally friendly.

According to the band's official tour website, the tour will focus on three main goals: reduce, reinvent, and restore. Some of the key plans shared include a kinetic dance floor, where fans' movements will help generate electricity for the concert, as well as LED wristbands, confetti, and a stage made from reusable materials.

Bikes will also be situated in the concert venues for fans to hop on if they wish to contribute to electricity generation.Β The band also shared that they would be contributing 10% of their earnings from the tour to environmental charities, such as ClientEarth, The Ocean Cleanup, and One Tree Planted.

The tour announcement was accompanied by the release of the Grammy-award winning act's latest album, Music Of The Spheres on 15 October. Check out Bandwagon's review of the album here.
