Fortnite is getting pulled from China.

Epic Games has recently announced that they are shutting down the popular battle royale video game in China, amidst the country's strict crackdown on gaming. The company launched a beta test of Fortnite in the country in 2018, which saw a China-specific version of the game that censored excessive violence.

"Fortnite China's beta test has reached an end, and the servers will be closed soon. On November 15 at 11 am, we will turn off game servers, and players will no longer be able to connect to the game. Thank you to all the Fortnite China players who have ridden the Battle Bus with us by participating in the Beta.," said Epic Games, in an official statement.

China to restrict time spent on online games for minors

In recent months, Chinese authorities have been imposing several regulations to curb gaming addiction among their youth population. Recently, the country has also implemented time restrictions on online gaming for minors, which followed the ban of certain karaoke songs and the regulation of fan culture

Fortnite is currently one of the world's biggest battle royale games, garnering over 350 million users worldwide. In the last year, the video game has also ventured into the world of music, hosting various virtual concerts for artists like Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, Marshmello, and more.
