Here's everything that happened at j-hope's historic set at Lollapalooza 2022

CALLING THE BTS ARMY

The moment that j-hope was announced as part of this year's festival headliners, ARMY rushed to buy tickets, book flights, and more to show up for the 'Arson' hitmaker's grand festival debut—and boy, did they show up.

Fans were reportedly lined up to enter the festival grounds more than 12 hours before j-hope was set to perform, with Jack In The Box-decorated lightsticks and banners in hand. ARMY even took over local eateries surrounding Grant Park with cup sleeve events and fan projects to celebrate HOBIPALOOZA

OPENING JACK IN THE BOX

After hours of anticipation, j-hope materialised on stage in the most j-hope way possible—propelling upwards out of a giant Jack In The Box. The 'Blue Side' rapper kicked off his solo festival debut with a ground-shaking performance of 'MORE', proving what a true rockstar he is.

Throughout his hour-long set, j-hope stunned, shocked, and absolutely impressed Lollapalooza and the world with powerful, headbang-worthy performances of his best hits. The rapper-producer shared how he poured his "entire heart and soul" into his latest album which all culminated in his historic festival performance.  Giving every ounce of energy into every minute of every song, j-hope showed the world he was born to be on stage.

"This is really a meaningful moment for me. The process of this album—which started with greed and immature ambition—is grandly going towards its end, this is a part of the process," j-hope said before ending his Lollapalooza performance.

"Through this album, all these schedules have become my blood and flesh and while doing Lollapalooza today, and looking at you all, our ARMYs, and the public, I think I’ve gained a firm and clear belief. It was really, really an honour and I want to thank everyone who came.

To be honest, all these many schedules were really a continuation of fears but nevertheless, it was a very, very meaningful moment. And to myself, who was able to overcome this moment, I'm a little shy, but I want to tell myself: I’m really proud of you."

AN ODE TO ARMY

Even as he's performing his solo songs, j-hope had to give a little something to the "OG ARMY" in the crowd. The 'Pandora's Box' rapper performed BTS' 'Cypher Pt. 1' and the tropical remix of the group's GRAMMY-nominated hit 'Dynamite' with new choreography created by j-hope himself.

A SERVING OF CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP

It's been three years since we got j-hope and Becky G's 'Chicken Noodle Soup' but we had yet to get a live performance from the duo. Until today.

Before he closed out his Lollapalooza set, j-hope brought out the Latin pop star to finally give the crowd the serving of 'Chicken Noodle Soup' we've been waiting for and they undoubtedly delivered.

After their incredible performance, Becky G went on to thank j-hope not only for bringing her onstage but also for his friendship.

"As an artist, this moment right here means so much to me. I am not only so honoured to be here, but also so proud. I'm so proud of you, I'm so thankful for our friendship and this opportunity. Thank you so much to our fans and thank you, bro," she said.
