Minzy on learning Tagalog, and debuting in the Philippines: "I want to show what I have never done before."

K-pop's "Queen of Dance" is taking center stage in the Philippines.

Making her rise to fame in world-renowned Korean girl group 2NE1, Minzy has been highly recognised for her talents in singing and dancing. Now, with successful solo career in Korea, she has her eye on making it big in the Philippines.

Captivated by the rhythm and storytelling of Filipino music, the singer-dancer has recently joined Viva Entertainment and Open Door Artists, in partnership with her own label MZ Entertainment. Particularly taking a liking to local artists like Sarah Geronimo, Nadine Lustre, and Ella Cruz, Minzy aims to make music that "warms the hearts of Filipino fans" and wants to "show what [she has] never done before".

During a recent press conference with the artist, she recalls fond memories of performing the Philippines. "In 2018, I preformed at UAAP and the fans were holding lightsticks, and it was so beautiful. Till this day, it's very memorable," said Minzy.

To kick-start her new adventure in the Philippines, Minzy released a Tagalog version of her latest track 'Lovely'. With the help of fellow Viva artist Mikee Misalucha, the 'Ninano' act revealed that she learnt the Tagalog words by writing the pronounciation in Korean characters.

The new track, while out of Minzy's comfort zone, has received a lot of praise from fans all over the world, as well as her former 2NE1 member Dara.

Moving forward, the singer has a lot in store for Filipino fans. "I hope you guys continue to support and wait for me. I have a lot of projects for my Filipino, so please wait for me," said Minzy.
