tide/edit on their favorite anime soundtracks

tide/edit are now in Japan and it's only fitting, considering their love for anime.

Tracing back to their days of looking forward to Samurai X, Slam Dunk, Yu Yu Hakusho (a.k.a Ghost Fighter in the Philippines), Flame of Recca, Hunter X Hunter, and Doraemon on TV, the Filipino post-rock quartet have anime in a special chamber in their hearts. They're all grown up now, but continue to catch their new favorite shows, which includes Steins;Gate, Psycho-Pass, Yakitate!! Japan, Sakamoto Desu Ga!, One Punch Man, Kimi No Nawa (Your Name), My Hero Academia, and Mob Psycho 100.

Bandwagon caught up with the 'Twelve' act to discuss their love for anime, which series they want to contribute their music to, and their other plans in Japan this week.

Are there any anime soundtrack composers/bands you look up to or borrow inspiration from?

BANDWAGON TV

Creator ng Death Note, buong anime OST ng Death Note. Malaki ang role niya sa buhay ko. One of Tokyo Ghoul's OP composers österreich, sobrang math nun, tsaka yung banda ng Your Name, Radwimps, very melodic na banda. Siam Shade from Samurai XNujabes from Samurai Champloo. Maraming hip-hop jazz, instrumental hip-hop.

In what ways have anime soundtracks contributed to tide/edit's sound?

Clarence: 'Di ko sure kung naka-contribute tayo isa-isa, ibaiba yung influences namin. Basically, feeling ko yung pinaka mas anime sa banda kaming dalawa ni Noe, not much for the others. Yung Death Note soundtrack yung pinaka importante sakin kasi ang dami kong natutunan dun bawa't odd time. Basta ibang iba yung feeling sakin.

Noe: Siguro dun ako nag simula, as in natutong mag bass.

Clarence: Oo tsaka yung mga una mong videos sa YouTube ay cover ng K-on!, so masasabi mo na, kung walang anime, wala kang bass (laughs).

tide/edit to release limited All My Friends cassette in Japan

If tide/edit could make the soundtrack for an ongoing anime series, what would it be and why?

Fourth season of Haikyu!! But then we can only say when we watch the same anime, sakin siguro gusto ko mag contribute sana ng isang malungkot na track lang sa My Hero Academia, also One Punch Man. Pangarap lang naman (laughs)!

Besides playing your shows, what else do you plan to do while you're in Japan? Anything anime-related on your itinerary?

Gusto ko pumunta sa Gundam Statue, Hachiko. Gusto ko magtingin ng mga sapatos, gusto ko bumili ng anime action figure, gusto ko pumunta sa mga cosplay, as in yung legit na cosplay sa streets.
