On RRR this week, we dissect nu-metal to find its merits

Is nu-metal making a comeback? Probably not - but we talk about our teenage infatuation with the genre anyways!

From some of its cheesier bands like Limp Bizkit and Drowning Pool to the innovative ones that are still relevant today such as Korn and Slipknot, we discuss the good and bad of nu-metal with the benefit of hindsight.

Outside of our nu-metal conversation, we also talk about grime's recent resurgence, its origins in the UK, its burgeoning popularity in Singapore, and its vast difference from American hip-hop.

Music-wise, there's plenty to dig into this week — with rap-infused metalcore by Villes & THELIONCITYBOY, local grime by REQ, sensual R&B by Sheeq Luna, shimmery dream pop by Youth Portal, confessional hip-hop by Curtismith and some good ol' drum & bass by Digital.

Finally, we also look forward the events over yet another long weekend (yay!), including Daniel Peters' upcoming talk at the Esplanade Library, Madam X's Singapore debut with ATTAGIRL, Jay Prince's live showcase at Cherry Discotheque, Peggy Gou's return to Headquarters by The Council, and lots more!

BANDWAGON TV

Recent Record Reviews used to be a video series where the Bandwagon editors talked about records (that are recent). We're now a weekly podcast, because we have faces for radio.
