Slightly ahead of their debut release, SM Entertainment announced their official fandom name, MY, which represents "my precious friend".

It was also later revealed that the debut single will be a "powerful dance song about aespa's universe" with "a catchy spell-like hook".

Aespa confirmed earlier this month that they will be making their official debut on 17 November with their first single 'Black Mamba'. Home to groups like Red Velvet, EXO, and NCT, SM explained the meaning behind the group’s name, aespa. Derived from the words "avatar", "experience", and "aspect", "it means to be able to experience a new world through another avatar of yourself." "Aspect" also hints that the group will have multiple sides and facets.

Not missing a trick, fans have previously spotted a spoiler from the ending shot of SuperM’s recent music video, ‘One (Monster & Infinity)’.

aespa unveiled teasers back in October, introducing all four members of the group, Winter, Karina, Ningning, and Giselle.
