On 9 December, Twitter Indonesia dropped the top hashtags, alongside artists and video games that dominated 2021.
It comes as no surprise that global superstars BTS are among the most talked-about entertainment account from their busy year of comeback concerts, Billboard Hot 100 number 1 hits, winning Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards, and scoring another nomination at the 64th GRAMMY Awards.
Accompanying them are Indonesian pop star Agnez Mo, comedian Ernest Prakasa, cooking show star chef Arnold Pernomo, pop-ballad singer Fiersa Besari, Indonesian-Japanese idol group JKT48, Indonesian actor Joe Taslim, and pop icon, Taylor Swift.
The Grammys itself made it to the top hashtags following its 63rd edition earlier this March, as well as the nominations for next year, alongside top anime Attack on Titan, cryptocurrency and gaming platform GameFi, the ever-popular video game Genshin Impact, and trending Indonesian drama Ikatan Cinta.
On the K-culture spectrum, Twitter Indonesia has been raving about BTS and their hit song 'Butter,' ENHYPEN, EXO, NCT 127, NCT DREAM, and Stray Kids. Idol survival show Kingdom, K-drama Hometownchachacha and Netflix hit Squid Game have also been the most talked-about shows to watch this year.
While the GOT7 members are currently focusing on their solo careers, the group is still among the top K-culture topics, alongside BTS, BLACKPINK, and ENHYPEN.
