BTS impart their legacy with the world as millions tune in for 'Yet To Come in Busan' concert — gig report

On 15 October, BTS held their Yet To Come in Busan concert that saw not only a live audience of up to 50,000 people but also a simultaneous live-play and livestream that accumulatively drew in millions of fans across the world. While the concert was set up in support of Busan's bid to host the World Expo 2030, it proved to be much more meaningful for the globally renowned pop group and their fans, ARMY

Meet the creatives behind the scenes of BTS' 'Yet To Come in Busan' concert – live band, choreographers, and more

You see, in the months prior to the concert's announcement, BTS were entering a new era of their careers, one that saw the individual members exploring their own pursuits both in and out of music (from j-hope's critically acclaimed Jack In The Box to RM narrating a Korean cultural art exhibit in Los Angeles). So, for a while, it was rare to see the members all together (except for their special episodes of Run BTS! that helped fill that void).

Yet To Come in Busan showed us a side of BTS we've so dearly missed, one that's on a massive stage pouring out their entire heart and soul into their performances.

In true BTS fashion, the concert began on a pure high as they opened with 'MIC Drop' and 'Run BTS' with the utmost intensity, energy, and power. In just a couple of minutes, BTS showed exactly why they are at the top of the music industry.

Across almost two hours, RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook took us on a trip down memory lane, performing some of the songs that defined the early days of their career. Backed by memorable iconography from their past music videos (like the school bus from 'No More Dream', the statue from 'Blood Sweat & Tears', and the hanging shoes from 'Spring Day' ), BTS performed fan-favourites 'Run', 'Save Me', 'Boy With Luv', 'Ma City', 'Epilogue: Young Forever', and 'Butterfly'

"These are songs that we are singing for the first time in a very long time... that might perhaps be the last time we sing in person," wrote RM in a letter posted on Weverse.

In addition to the sentimental performances that pull at the heartstrings, BTS delivered a feast of powerful performances that had you jumping, regardless if you were there live or watching through a screen. Accompanied by an impeccable live band (that put their vocal precision at center stage), the group gave incredible rock renditions of 'Dope', 'Fire', and 'IDOL' that certainly had everyone on their feet.

For BTS, 2022 has been defined by paying ode to their roots, from releasing their anthology album, Proof to recreating iconic moments from their careers during their anniversary celebrations. But beyond all the shiny awards and accolades they've earned throughout the years, this is the legacy BTS will leave behind—being world-class performers that certainly know how to put on a show worth viewing by millions all across the globe.

These days, with so many records, awards, and milestones under their belts, you see the members in the backdrop of prestigious award shows, UN assemblies, and the world's biggest music stages (and even the US Presidential Whitehouse at one point). But Yet To Come in Busan reminded us that BTS simply started with seven boys with one common dream, that amidst all the glitz and glam of all that they've accomplished lies a relentless passion and love for what they do and the people that have supported them through it all.

There's no way to know exactly what the next chapter of BTS holds, but as much as the future is uncertain, it's also exciting.

A decade together means a decade's worth of memories, laughter, and hardships. For a group like BTS, it had been a winding road full of ups and downs, losses and wins but if there's anything that their highly anticipated Busan concert showed us, it's that the best is yet to come.
