'Permission To Dance' gives BTS fifth Billboard Hot100 number 1 single, Ed Sheeran's fourth number 1 hit as a songwriter

The global pop group just released their newest song 'Permission To Dance' and in true BTS fashion, the track has broken over 10 million views in less than an hour of its release. This comes as one of the group's fastest music videos to reach the milestone. 

The music video also is the second-fastest music video to surpass 1 million likes on YouTube, following 'Butter'.

Released today (09/07) on ARMY's 8th anniversary, the cheery pop song was released as part of the 'Butter' CD release, which also dropped today (09/07) at 1 PM KST (11 AM JKT, 12 PM PHT/SGT). The CD comes in two sets, Cream and Peaches.

'Permission To Dance' joins the group's record-breaking hits, 'Butter'and 'Dynamite'both of which broke over 10 million views in just minutes of its debut. The former, which was released last May, is currently one of BTS' best-performing tracks having clocked in over 108.2 million views on YouTube within its first 24 hours and has spent six consecutive weeks atop Billboard's Hot 100 chart. The two tracks also make up the top two selling downloads in the US. 

'Permission To Dance' was co-written by Ed Sheeran and Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid, alongside 'Butter' collaborators Steve Mac, Steve Kirk, and Jenna Andrews. The pop song comes as the latest collaboration between BTS and Sheeran, who previously worked together on the group's 2019 track 'Make It Right'
