Apple Music unveils 100 best songs in Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand – SB19, Weird Genius, Gentle Bones, Yuna, and more

Apple Music have revealed the songs and sounds that defined the year in 100 Best Songs of 2020 - as chosen by editors in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.

Music plays an integral part in our lives and often gives us a voice to describe feelings that words simply cannot. This year, we turned to music at record levels, listening to and discovering more music than ever before.

For a year that was unlike any other, it made sense to see breakout artistes such as Compton's very own Roddy Ricch amass a gargantuan amount of streams which topped Apply Music charts in 37 countries with his hit single 'The Box'; a feat usually reserved for the top names in music.

BANDWAGON TV

Joining him in this category is Tones and I, the creator of 2020 earworm 'Dance Monkey' which topped global charts as well.

The global top 100 songs also include the likes of, 'Blinding Lights' by The Weeknd, 'Don't Start Now' by Dua Lipa, 'Circles' by Post Malone, 'everything i wanted' by Billie Eilish, 'Watermelon Sugar' by Harry Styles, 'Stuck With U' by Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, and 'Say So' by Doja Cat.

Indonesia

In Indonesia, the charts were topped by tunes such as 'Intentions' by Justin Bieber, 'Lovesick Girls' by BLACKPINK, 'Rain On Me' by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, '夜に駆ける' by Yoasobi, 'Any Song' by ZICO, 'Care' by Beabadoobee, 'Always' by Iñigo Pascual and Moophs, 'Lovers Forever' by Benjamin Kheng, and 'B.Y.S' by Keshi.

Music by Indonesian acts also dominated the list, with the likes of 'Melukis Senja' by Budi Doremi, 'Adaptasi' by Tulus, 'LATHI' by Weird Genius, 'Masih' by Rossa, 'Switchblade' by NIKI, and 'I'd Do It Again' by Violette Wautier.


Singapore

Listeners in the Lion City streamed the tracks like 'always, i care' by Jeremy Zucker, 'Midnight Sky' by Miley Cyrus, 'Do It' by Chloe x Halle, 'Smile' by JUICE WRLD and The Weeknd, and 'Daylight' by Joji and Diplo,

Homegrown music such as '你還不知道?' by Gentle Bones and Tay Kewei, 'Stay with Me' by JJ Lin and Yanzi Sun, 'Amazing' by Yung Raja, ALYPH, and Trifect, 'Sleeping On My Own Again' by MYRNE, 'Love Me Like A' by RRILEY, and 'Home2020' by THELIONCITYBOY rounded up the Top 100.


Malaysia

Neighbouring Singapore, charts in Malaysia were filled with groovy tracks from various genres such as, 'death bed' by Powfu feat. Beabadoobee, 'TKN' by ROSALIÁ and Travis Scott, 'B.S.' by Jhene Aiko feat. H.E.R., 'BALI' by Rich Brian and Guapdad 400, 'Plastic World' by PYRA, and 'Cosmonauts' by Fiona Apple.

The list also featured local tracks like 'SAKIT' by ZYNAKAL and YonnyBoii, 'Semalam' by Aina Abdul, 'Stay Where You Are' by Yuna, 'KUASA' by Joe Flizzow, and 'Vibin' In A Lockdown' by SonaOne.


Thailand

A notable entry in Thailand's Top Songs of 2020 saw a mellow yet inspirational track in Olafur Arnalds' 'Spiral' making the charts. He is joined by the likes of 'Sunday Best' by Surfaces, 'Baby' by Four Tet, 'Bad Communication' by Tuimi, 'Know Your Worth' by Khalid and Disclosure, and 'Supalonely' by BENEE.

Thai music powered their way through the list, with the likes of 'Melbourne' by Morvasu feat. TangBadVoice, 'Untold' by BOWKYLION, 'สุดปัง' by MILLI, 'คิด(แต่ไม่)ถึง (Same Page?)' by Tilly Birds, and 'หมดเวลาแล้ว (Before Sunset)' by 25Hours.


Philippines

Ariana Grande's 'positions' is among the most streamed tracks in the Philippines and is joined by 'no song without you' by HONNE, 'WAP' by Cardi B., feat. Megan Thee Stallion, 'At My Worst' by Pink Sweat$, 'mirrorball' by Taylor Swift, 'Say It Again' by Griff, 'Kyoto' by Phoebe Bridgers, and 'Sofia' by Clairo.

Tracks by Filipino acts including 'Catriona' by Matthaios, 'Teka Lang' by Emman, 'Sa Susunod Na Habang Buhay' by Ben&Ben, 'Paubaya' by Moira Dela Torre, 'Hanggang sa Huli' by SB19,  and 'Araw-Araw Love' by Flow G made it to the list.
